View schedule Go to bookingVisa run and border run are terms that refer to trips outside the country with the purpose of extending or renewing legal stay, most often without obtaining a new visa within the country.
This is a trip to the border, exiting the country, and returning with a new visa (a stamp with a stay period based on an E-visa) at the border. If a citizen is in Vietnam, they need to obtain an "expedited" visa in advance. This is relevant for citizens of countries eligible for visa-free entry or e-visa issuance.
* Example:
A German citizen leaves Vietnam for Laos, obtains an electronic visa to Vietnam for 90 days, and returns. This is a visa run.
This is a simpler trip to the border without obtaining a visa — a person simply crosses the border back and forth to receive a visa-free stamp (if available based on their passport).
* Example:
A Russian citizen, eligible for visa-free entry to Vietnam for 45 days, goes to the border, exits the country, and immediately returns, receiving a new 45-day stamp. This is a border run.
The passenger pre-registers for the trip, arrives at the designated time, and boards the Easygo bus.
During the journey to the border, two short 10-minute stops are scheduled. Upon arrival at the border, the passenger independently passes through the border control of two countries — Vietnam and the neighboring country (e.g., Laos).
Details about crossing the border, required documents, and visa conditions can be found in the relevant section.
